SAP sets up retail CoE in Mumbai
SAP India has announced the opening of Centre of Excellence
(CoE) to tap the booming retail sector in India. The SAP retail CoE will function
out of its Mumbai facility.
The CoE will demonstrate the strength of SAP retail offering
and the usage of various frontier technologies along with the best practices
to be followed in retail in India.
While inaugurating the SAP retail CoE, Alan Sedghi, president
& CEO, SAP Indian sub-continent said, Indian and global retailers
are vying to tap the high potential Indian market and as a result, majority
of them are facing numerous market and internal pressures that impede their
ability to foster growth and improve profitability.
Sedghi further added The retail opportunity in India
is expected to be around $440 billion by 2010. Growth in the mid-market and
retail segment is what we are looking at,.
According to him, SAP for retail solutions would be built
based on the SOA platform. The acquisition of Triversity, which specialises
in selling point-of-sale software and Khimetrics a U.S based customer-demand
management software vendor will further add to the Sap product portfolio. SAP
now plans to establish four more CoEs across the country including a RFID CoE
