Microsoft Security Strategist Award - 2006
Congratulations on bringing out the January issue of Network
Magazine on the Microsoft Security Strategist Awards. It is a great way to salute
enterprise security architects who give their best to secure their organisations.
On behalf of the Network Magazine team I would like to
thank you for your words of appreciation. The 2006 MSSA winners were those who
had in-depth security processes and a policy of continuously improving their
systems. The policies and procedures followed by them are inextricably woven
into their business processes and operational procedures. ICICI Bank, Cognizant
and HPCL won because the jury felt that their set-ups had evolved to the point
where processes are documented and pervasive.
I read the January issue of Network magazine. The case study
on Andhra Pradesh Secretariat was interesting. I was happy to learn that the
state government has implemented IT to pave the way for better administration
and bring affordable services closer to its citizens.
Andhra Pradesh embarked upon the road to e-governance
almost eight to nine years ago. Today it is one of the pioneering states offering
affordable and easy to use cost-effective citizen-centric services with the
use of Information Technology.
The State Government is also in the process of migrating
its servers to blades and storage solution from NAS to SAN. A dedicated state
database will soon be deployed at Hyderabad with DR set-up at Tirupati or Vizag.
This issue of Network Magazine is the Case Study Special
presenting the best of 2006 in five categoriesServers, Government, wireless
and mobile enablement, document management and DR.
