Symantec India recently inaugurated its Global Security Response
(GSR) lab at its centre of innovation in Pune. This lab will provide real-time
monitoring and response to threats world-wide. The eighth of its kind in world
and the first in India, the lab will protect the companys global customers
from a variety of security threats. Vincent Weafer, Senior Director- Development,
Symantec Security Response; Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec India
and Anil Chakravarthy, Vice President-India Technical Operations, Symantec Corporation
were present at the occasion.
This lab is part of Symantecs Global Intelligence Network that includes
researchers across the world collecting information about online fraud, malicious
code and security risks. They analyse this data to assess threats and formulate
appropriate responses so that real-time updates can be developed for Symantec
products and delivered to users around the world in the form of definitions.
Symantec provides detailed intelligence on real-time security incidents gathered
from more than 40,000 sensors in over 180 countries.
Cyber crime is being conducted with financial motives today. Our aim through
this lab is to create content which will ultimately protect customers,
says Vincent Weafer. The security centre exists within Symantecs original
R&D centre at Pune. It will address urgent security concerns by delivering
early warning solutions that provide a thorough analysis of Internet security
threat.
