CII Telecom and Broadband Summit

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), organised a Telecom and Broadband Summit which saw the participation of several heavy weights from the Indian telecom Industry. The theme was India- The emerging Telecom Hub. The summit examined key issues that were pertinent in today’s telecommunication scene like the broadband penetration, WiMax technology and policy and regulations governing the telecom and broadband sector to name a few. Telecom majors like Nortel, Sify and Hutchinson Essar, D-Link and Idea Celluar participated in the event. The event highlighted various trends in the telecom industry.

One of the observations made by the industry experts was that broadband has not been able to achieve its targets. The broadband technology has not diffused into rural areas and this is obviously a matter of concern. Service providers are coming up with innovative solutions to take broadband to rural India.
