Features: Fortinet has announced a load-balancing switch and security blades for its FortiGate-5000 Series. The FortiController-5208 switch and FortiGate-5005 security blades work in tandem to boost security and scalability in 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks providing multi-threat protection.

A FortiController-5208 blade provides switch-based interconnection to distribute traffic to other FortiGate blades and load-balances between them for increased performance and scalability. FortiGate-5000 supports ATCA (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture), an industry standard for the next generation of carrier grade communications equipment.

Novell Access Manager

This access management and federated identity solution controls access to both Web and enterprise applications and services and helps organisations comply with regulations by generating reports that detail access events across a network, such as who authenticated to a particular resource and when the resource was last accessed.

Industry standards such as Security Assertion Markup Language and Liberty Alliance protocols are incorporated in the product, to share identity information across security boundaries. ProCurve fanless switch 2510-24

ProCurve offers a managed, Layer 2, 24-port 10/100 switch with two dual-personality Gigabit ports providing 10/100/1000-T or mini-GBIC connectivity. The 2510-24 is a fanless switch, it runs quietly. It includes access security and basic traffic prioritisation along with a Web interface which allows configuration of the switch from any Web browser on the network.

Security features include IEEE 802.1X and RADIUS network login which helps control port-based access for authentication and accountability and secure management access through command line (CLI) and GUI. Communication over the interface is encrypted using SSHv2, SSL, and SNMPv3. It also claims to support IP multicast snooping and IGMPv3 that automatically prevents flooding of IP multicast traffic.
