Server virtualisations relevance to BFSI
This is with reference to the Server Update 2006 articles in the Network Magazines
August 2006 edition. These articles have been highly informative.
This is specially the case with the article pertaining to virtualisation of
a server. In todays IT infrastructure, factors like storage & network
(multiple operating systems) are important to ensure lower costs while increasing
utilisation on a single server.
This is more so considering the infrastructure strategies
that have to be in play today accompanied by the increase in IT budgets at all
levels. These will be highly useful to all sectors, mostly in the BFSI segment
where we have to consider RoI, business targets, security and consumer trends.

Thank you for the encouraging feedback. As you have rightly
mentioned, server virtualisation especially that on the x86 platform, will be
quite useful for the BFSI segment.
Traditionally, the BFSI segment has favoured virtualised
environments. Many organisations from this vertical have been faithful to the
virtualisation capabilities offered by RISC platforms for many a year now.
With the advent of virtualisation on the x86, the BFSI
vertical has one more option on the server virtualisation front. The scene is
no doubt bound to get even better as server virtualisation on x86 matures.
BI-SCM was useful
I read Network Magazines article on BI-SCM in the February 2006 issue.
It was impressive and gave a good understanding of the concept to the layman.
I am studying with the S P Jain Institute of Management and
Research, Mumbai. The story has been quite useful to me.
Thank you for the encouraging feedback. It is great to
hear that you found the contents relevant to your knowledge enhancement needs.
Do keep updating us with your inputs.
Technology Senate 2006
I am interested in knowing about Network Magazines annual CTO event Technology
Senate. I heard about the Senate from a peer of mine in the CIO fraternity.
Will you be conducting the event this year? Where can I find
details on this?

Established in 2003, Technology Senate is an annual gathering
of the brightest and the biggest names in the Indian IT community.
In its fourth edition, Technology Senate is on the threshold
of another major milestone in its journey as it prepares to step into the forthcoming
event. Technology Senate 2006 is slated to be held in December 2006.
The participation for this event will be restricted to
select participants from the CIO community as usual. You can find more details
on the event as well as registration for participants by logging on to www.technologysenate.com.
We always look forward to hearing
from you. Please e-mail your comments, suggestions and queries to
