Infotech gets Layer 3 treatment

Infotech Enterprises has deployed a network comprising Cisco Layer 3 Catalyst 4500 Series switches with Virtual Area Network and Supervisor Engines.

Infotech is a software services company with core competencies in geographic information systems, engineering design, and IT services for the telecom, enterprise, government and retail markets. It chose to deploy the new equipment to enhance and monitor its local area network.

The network installation enhances connectivity between the two separate facilities of the company. The configuration/architecture can support a network of up to 3,500 users from multiple locations, and the Cisco Layer 3 4500 series switches interfaces with Cisco’s IP routing protocols. Coupled with the 4500 series switches, Layer 3 primarily facilitates the routing of data in packets across logical Internet work paths.
