Mahindra receives BS 7799
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced that the company has received
the BS 7799 certification in information security. M&M has successfully
completed an audit carried out by STQC, the authorised certification body for
the standard, and the certificate has been presented.
Mahindra Special Services Group (SSG) helped in the implementation of the Information
Security Management System (ISMS) and the certification. Mahindra SSG implemented
the ISMS across 48 area sales offices and the eight divisions of M&M: Auto
Sector (AS), Farm Equipment Sector (FES), Mahindra Defence Systems (MDS), Mahindra
Engineering Services (MES), Strategic Sourcing Business Unit (SSBU), Mahindra
Special Services Group (MSSG), Transport Services Group (TSG) and the Spares
Business Unit (SBU).
M&M successfully completed the two phases on the way
to BS 7799 certification. The first phase of the process involved M&M preparing
for the certification of ISMS by developing and implementing ISMS, integrating
ISMS into its day-to-day business processes, training its staff, and establishing
an ongoing programme of ISMS maintenance. The second phase involved auditing
of M&M's ISMS implementation by an accredited certification body, for which
the services of STQC IT Certification Services (India) were hired.
