APAC server revenue up by 12.9 percent
According
to Gartner, the APAC server revenue has increased by 12.9 percent in the first
half of 2005 as compared to 2004. In the second quarter of 2005, server revenue
was reported to have grown 15.8 percent year on year.
According to Annie Chung, Principal Analyst of Enterprise Systems at Gartner,
China, Korea, and Australia continue to be the largest markets in terms
of revenue, contributing to 67 percent of the total APAC server market in revenue
terms during the second quarter.
In the APAC region, China enjoys the first position, as its server revenue grew
22.1 percent to $601 million. South Korea was second to China in APAC, with
14.9 percent market share and revenue growth at 5.5 percent in this quarter
compared to the same quarter last year. In Australia, server revenue grew by
13.3 percent year on year.
India, the largest server market in the ASEAN region, saw a revenue hike of
30 percent year on year. Singapore enjoyed a good second quarter with 14.7 percent
growth in revenue. Indonesia and Philippines had a decline.
