e-Procurement in IFFCO

Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has deployed e-procurements systems in the organisation. It has already implemented e-procurement at its head office, marketing central office, zonal office south, production units, and formally launched the process of awarding purchase order/work orders through the e-procurement process.

Through e-procurement, the company hopes to reduce lead time in the procurement process, enhance efficiency, and cut down transaction costs.

To take this initiative forward and ensure its success, the organisation did the most logical thing—train its suppliers and vendors on the benefits and use of the e-procurement system. IFFCO conducted workshops for its vendors in Mumbai and Delhi.

The vendors were told about the benefits of digital signature based e-procurement processes and the main features of the system which include:

• Web-based systems for placement of tenders and receiving bids.
• E-mail alerts.
• Personal database for vendors.
• Online help for submission of bids.
• Availability of categories in which vendors are registered and many more.
