1.28 Tb capacity submarine cabling commences
Sea-Me-We-4
that links France to Singapore with Mumbai, India, as a landing point for VSNL
is being deployed. The cables both from the Singapore side and the France side
will land at Mumbai at VSNL's cable landing station in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
Laying the SMW-4 submarine cable system with a designed capacity of 1.28 Terabits
with two fibre pairs using DWDM technology is scheduled to be completed during
the fourth quarter of this year. Upon commissioning, this cable system will
play a key role in facilitating traffic to the Far East, Europe, and the United
States both via the Atlantic and Pacific route out of India.
VSNL is undertaking the responsibility of a network administrator and has provided
its Network Operating Centre (NOC) for the project.
