Solution providers get awarded
Frost & Sullivan hosted an awards ceremony to honour some of the significant
performers in the solution provider market in India. The awards ceremony was
titled '2004 Technology Awards Nite', and was held in Mumbai. The event hosted
on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the JW Mariott, Juhu attracted a large audience
comprising vendors, solution providers, and even user company CIOs.
The awards was given out to 20 companies in various categories which covered
areas like call management, IP Telephony, security, e-mail, healthcare, and
video conferencing.
The objective of the award according to Frost & Sullivan was to recognize
outstanding industry achievements by presenting the awards to top companies
in regional and global markets. Teams of industry experts at Frost and Sullivan
aims to recognize the diligence and innovation required to implement a successful
business plan, and excel in the increasingly competitive global marketplace.
These awards are recognized worldwide by the media, the investment community
and end-user markets.
Frost & Sullivan Awards are presented to companies that demonstrate excellence
in their industry, commending diligence, commitment and innovative business
strategies required to advance in the global marketplace. The company claims
to rigorously analyze specific criteria to determine award recipients in a vast
array of industries.
The categories
Awards were given in four main categories-'Market Leadership Award', 'Industry
Leadership Award', 'Competitive Strategy Award', and one award for the 'CEO
of the Year'.
The recipients
Tata Telecom bagged 10 out the 20 awards of the evening. It won Market Leadership
Awards in market categories like PBX, IP Telephony, ACD, CTI Enabling Software,
and Call Monitoring Solutions. It won Industry Leadership Awards in market categories
like Interactive CRM, and Enterprise Voice Equipment. The company's partnership
with Avaya Telecom helped a great deal to achieve this position.
Avaya's Niru Mehta also won the 'CEO of the Year' award.
Cisco won 'Industry Leadership Awards' in Network Security, and Wireless LAN.
And other companies like SAP, Sify, Talisma, And Nortel Networks won awards
in other categories.

Alok Shende, Director-Technology Practice made a presentation titled 'Looking
Ahead', in which he made a lot of references to Dr. Mohanbir Sawhney, McCormick
Professor of Electronic Commerce & Technology, Kellogg Graduate School of
Business Management.
The awards were presented by Sailesh Dave, Director, Global Best Practices Group
of Frost & Sullivan . And Anand Rangachary, Director of the company delivered
the closing note.
