Seagate: Cheetah 15K.4

The Cheetah 15K.4 by Seagate is the next evolution of the four generations of Cheetah 15K-rpm products. It is designed to target the mainstream enterprise for use in today's I/O-intensive data centers.

Cheetah 15K.4 drive offers a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface. A single SAS storage subsystem houses Seagate's $/GB Serial ATA (SATA) drives used for near-line storage in the same enclosure as the ideal 3.5-inch enterprise disk drive, the Cheetah 15K.4, used for online storage. SAS's point-to-point, full duplex architecture and 3.0Gb/s transfer speed coupled with Cheetah 15K.4 I/O performance enable the fastest, lowest cost of ownership, storage solutions.

The Cheetah 15K.4 is offered in capacities of 36, 73, and 147GBs, and is the industry's first 15K-rpm drive to include a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rating of 1.4 million hours. MTBF testing was conducted at full duty cycles (24 x 7) that ensure the 15K.4 is rated for true enterprise workloads.

BPO.Sphere

Automated Workflow recently launched the BPO.Sphere, a BPM solution designed to meet the process automation requirements of BPO companies.

BPO.Sphere automatically processes back-end insurance application processing, customer service, data-entry and verification services, data capture and image processing, transaction processing services and non-voice based services.

BPO.Sphere is built on IBM MQ Workflow Process Engine and has the ability to track and eliminate operational inefficiencies, enable identification of process bottlenecks and take corrective measures. The product also uses the IBM Content Manager and IBM WebSphere Suite.

BPO.Sphere provides a graphical representation of the work. The modular architecture of the product enables BPO organizations to choose modules based on their requirements. It also facilitates changes in business models and reduces turnaround time to offer new services to customers. The modules available are Document/Data capture module, Imaging module, Workflow module and combinations of these modules.

HP StorageWorks NAS 2000

HP StorageWorks NAS 2000 consolidates Exchange Server 2003 data stores on Windows Storage Server 2003-based NAS systems. So, SMB customers can consolidate the number of file, print and exchange servers for operational efficiency and management complexity by consolidating storage by as much as 50 percent.

The HP StorageWorks NAS 2000s provides a network attached storage (NAS) solution that delivers quick and simple NAS storage with multi-protocol file support and storage management for workgroups, small businesses, and remote locations. It offers network-based storage for multi-protocol environments.

It uses the Intel Xeon processors, and hot swap SCSI or SATA hard drives, with dual power supplies. It supports multiple backup and anti-virus packages. This range of NAS can be managed by multiple methods including Insight Manager, HP OpenView; Web UI and console allow flexibility for management.

Its 2U form-factor provides a storage solution that minimizes space requirements ranging from 587 GB of capacity up to 27 TB.

Krone's Copper Ten

Krone Communications Ltd, a network cable and connectivity supplier released a 10 Gigabit UTP cable "Copper Ten".

Krone claims it is the complete end-to-end cabling system, comprised of cable, connectors, patch cords and panels, has an amazing ability to overcome insertion loss and alien crosstalk.

Copper Ten cable has a star filler. While it's elliptical shape is non-symmetrical and off center, KRONE's conductor separator, helps Copper Ten avoid unwanted disturbances from nearby sources, such as signal noise emerging from adjacent cables within the same bundle. With its oblique shape being elliptical and offset, the filler keeps distance between the pairs and the cable ends. The cable ellipse rotates along its length, creating a larger air footprint, which generates more separation.The result is better alien crosstalk performance, with all internal requirements of Category 6.

KRONE has produced a cable concept to allow the 21 Gigabit/s 'Shannon capacity' necessary for 10 Gigabit/s Ethernet and to have the test results independently corroborated by one of the active equipment vendors involved in the 10 Gigabit/s

The Aventail EX-750 is an SSL VPN appliance tailored to small and mid-size companies or departments with up to 50 concurrent users. The Aventail EX-750 is a full-featured, clientless SSL VPN appliance that provides anywhere access to a wide range of applications, while ensuring security, ease of use, and controlled costs.

The EX-750 is built on Aventail's ASAP (Anywhere Secure Access Policy) Platform, which integrates application access, policy management, and End Point Control (EPC) functions. The OMNIScanner2 Digital Cable Analyzer certifies and troubleshoots Cat 6/5e and Class D/E links using an extendible digital platform to ensure Level III accuracy. It has a comprehensive cable library grouped by manufacturer to assure accurate length results.

It has a project-based user interface, and therefore provides improved field productivity. The device also supports TERA and GG45 cabling systems. Plus its customizable auto tests and limit lines allow freedom to meet changing requirements.

Information retrieved from the device can be offloaded using the USB port. The instrument includes the Universal OMNI-LIA101S Permanent Link Adapter. This adapter amounts to better performance, delivery of more passes and repeatability while eliminating false failures.

IP video phones

Ittiam Systems now offer IP video phones with full-duplex voice and video communication over broadband networks including wireless LANs. This integrated software and hardware solution is targeted at OEM customers who are engaged in the manufacture of two way video communications systems.

Ittiam's IP video phone solution includes an embedded software framework along with a hardware demonstration and application development platform. The software sub-system is a modular package of audio and video processing functions, call control protocols, and network protocols integrated with a common framework, and running on a single digital signal processor.

The hardware sub-system is a full-featured, flexible demonstration and development platform based on a digital signal processor from Texas Instruments. It is available in a real-life-usage form factor with an alphanumeric keypad, on-board speaker, microphone, camera and 6.4-inch LCD display complete with Ethernet, wireless LAN, USB and IrDA interface. The platform supports a range of storage devices including hard disk drives and those with a CardBus interface. This platform is modular and configurable. It is designed to provide OEM customers the ability to rapidly integrate, explore and develop end solutions enabling a shorter time-to-market.
