TCO for SAP
The Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Group (CGE&Y) announced the launch of a
new TCO initiative for SAP solutions. CGE&Y said the initiative helps customers
to maximize return on IT investments by reducing the TCO, and providing a platform
for continued business innovation. The solution leverages a portfolio of offerings,
including SAP ValueUpgrade, SAP Run, Rightshore and the integration with SAP
NetWeaver, the open integration and application platform that drives lower cost
of ownership across heterogeneous IT landscapes.
SATA NCQ technology
Seagate, Intel and Silicon Image demonstrated Serial ATA (SATA) Native Command
Queuing (NCQ) technology, one of the most anticipated features of the Serial
ATA interface. The companies created an integrated Serial ATA solution combining
native SATA hard drives, host controller, and system softwareall of which
are required to perform SATA command queuing. Until today, SATA NCQ technology
had been demonstrated only as a development technology.
New Notes and Domino 6.5
IBM India announced the availability of IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 6.5, a messaging
and collaboration platform. In addition to expanded Linux support and new in-box
management features, the latest version of Lotus Notes and Domino integrates
Lotus Instant Messaging (formerly Lotus Sametime) and WebSphere Portal functionality.
