Norman has introduced Norman Internet Protection (NIP) a proxy filter for the workstation to protect it from virus attacks through the Internet, e-mail and newsreaders. It is a workstation-based tool that connects to the mail server.

Features: NIP monitors inbound and outbound e-mails for malware and scans for viruses. It sends alerts for infection and block file attachments depending on content and file extensions.

As an integrated component in NVC 5 it can be distributed to all workstations through the network.

POP3, IMAP, SMTP, NNTP are some protocols supported by the current version of NIP.
