EXTERNAL STORAGE APPLIANCES
Adaptec
has introduced external storage subsystems Adaptec DuraStor
7320SS (Fiber Channel-to-SCSI subsystem) and DuraStor
6320SS (SCSI-to-SCSI external storage subsystem). The
products feature storage management, security, and protection
for Storage Area Networks (SANs). Adaptec DuraStor 7320SS
features Logical Unit Number (LUN) zoning for SAN security
and manageability. LUN zoning allows organizations to
easily allocate storage for specific applications and
servers while preventing overwrites.
Features: DuraStor's storage networking simplifies storage
management and enable customers to improve disk utilization
through consolidation. Both solutions consist of a RAID
controller appliance and an enclosure with 12 hot-swappable
one-inch drive bays to provide up to 1.7 TB of storage.
With the addition of three 12-bay drive enclosures,
the Adaptec DuraStor 7320SS scales to 7 TB of storage
capacity.
Both subsystems are 2U appliances, enabling high-density
rack mounting or pedestal use, and both include redundant,
hot-swappable fans and power supplies to ensure maximum
uptime. Both
feature Adaptec's Storage Manager Pro software.

Authentication
SECURED MOBILE LOG-IN
RSA Security has announced a mobile authentication solution
called the RSA superscript mobile authentication solution.
It is designed to utilize mobile phones and the Short
Messaging Service (SMS) infrastructure to quickly deliver
one-time access codes to end users. End-users can use
the solution to gain secure entry into Web-based applications.
The RSA Mobile authentication solution is designed to
help reduce the risk of fraud, lower administration
costs and enhance customer trust, while leveraging the
consumers' existing mobile devices.
Features: The mobile authentication solution claims
to enhance user experience by giving them a portable,
intuitive, and easy to use method for securely accessing
their valuable data.
The mobile software claims to scale to millions of users
without administrators, allowing the company to cost-effectively
maintain security even as number of remote users multiply.
The entire mobile authentication environment can be
managed through Web-based administration from a single
point on the network. The solution's enhanced administration
simplifies labor-intensive tasks, and provides convenience
and cost savings by helping to reduce the time required
to manage network security.

Routers
Secure Internet access
Rendezvous
On Chip (I) Pvt Ltd launched iAccess Routers, which
eliminate the need of proxy servers for sharing one
Internet account simultaneously by multiple users. These
routers are easy to setup and provide the flexibility
and scalability to support a wide range of internetworking
access mechanism like Analog dial-up, ISDN, Cable, DSL,
and leased line.
Features: The Virtual Private Network (VPN) uses Data
Encryption Standard (DES) and 3DES security for encryption
of data. As the public Internet is not secure to share
data with remote tele-commuting employees and branch
offices across geographies, businesses can deploy the
iAccess routers with optional VPN capabilities for secured
communication.
Comprehensive firewall capabilities prevent various
attacks and provide security for corporate networks.
A built-in optional mail server and a firewall eliminates
the need for another server to host these applications
and reduces the system and network administrative costs.
